First evening and second day until, 5 p.m. will be an Introduction to Continuum, that is a requirement for those who are new to the work.
The in-depth workshop will begin at 8 p.m. on the second day .
"The primary characteristic of any fluid system is ist ability to keep transforming itself."
(Emilie Conrad, Continuum Founder)
All life has been shaped by the movement of water. From the formation of galaxies to the pulsing cells of the human body, all life forms share the fundamental movement motif of spiraling fluid systems. Shaped by water and made primarily of water, our bodies are liquid crystalline structures designed to carry, receive and transmit vibration. From the waves of the air, the waters of the planet, the rays of the sun and the unfolding growth of plants -- all life is in movement. All exchange of information within the body and the larger world happens through the universal language of movement.
Within the practice of Continuum, each person’s unique path of embodiment is perceived as the expression of an unfolding planetary process. Our fluid bodies move much slower than the technological world and cultural speed in which we live, and therefore, the living intelligence of the body is often overlooked or disregarded. We can learn how to listen to the ancient fluid wisdom that moves within each of us.
Through the practice of Continuum, the nature of the body becomes a process we learn to trust. The longing for restoration and a return to an experience of living with ease and possibility is answered in Continuum. The fluid nature and embodied wisdom within us become a touchstone of support from within.
In this workshop, we will learn a universal language of biologically based movement incorporating breath and sounding practices that initiate personal movement explorations. As we join with the curving, arcing, pulsing and spiraling movements that are ever present within us, we learn how creativity and vitality is the birthright of our fluid nature. We experience how the body is in an active and engaged dynamic relationship with all of life.
Throughout the week, Robin weaves her expertise and knowledge of Continuum together with her lifelong study of the body and physical expression through dance and movement improvisation. Continuum is a gentle practice with a broad range of movement explorations ranging from the contemplative to the dynamic. In a Continuum workshop, participants do not learn a prescribed system of movement to memorize and perform. Instead, they learn a process of self-inquiry that supports the direct experience of discovering renewal from within.
The benefit of engaging in Continuum is usually a sense of great possibility and increased vitality. Many who participate express the delight of finding a way through Continuum to offer self-care and a type of supportive bodywork to themselves. The workshop will include a "dreamtime" or a period of silence, during which we move and rest in the deep listening and resonance of the group.
