Modules 3, 4 and 5 of the Esalen Massage Training can only be booked as a whole. The individual modules can be paid for separately.

In the fourth module, we combine flow and depth with effortless ease and explore the various movement possibilities of a flexible spine. The twisted posture, known to many from yoga as a ‘twist’, offers new and surprising approaches for playful and effective massage in typical pain areas such as the lumbar vertebrae, hips and shoulders. In particular, the side of the body, which is often neglected in many massages, can be reached effortlessly.

Anatomy knowledge is taught in a playful way using clear examples and targeted palpation exercises to identify the different muscle groups and bone structures. Communication skills are continuously practised and refined in class. The ability to listen actively is encouraged, as is the art of responding to the client's current needs in every massage. We learn to use our fingers, palms, soft fists and forearms in a way that is adapted to the sensitivity and body structure of our client.
Professional ethics are an important part of this teaching block. The implications of asymmetry within the client-practitioner relationship are discussed in joint conversations and discussions.
Mindful yoga, dance, continuum and meditation continue to accompany us throughout the training. This strengthens our presence and grounding during treatment.
