Somatic Dialogue is a gentle practice of body and mind in movement. It uses a soft approach to the body and enables the mind to accompany the body in a loving way. Through guided dance improvisation and hands-on techniques, the participants can enter into an intimate dialogue with themselves, the other and with the world surrounding them. This practice opens a space in us, where we can enter into a deep listening, discover our inner universe, and get closer to our physical, emotional, sensual and poetic selves.

The intimacy of Touch is a work which enables us to travel between the worlds of proprioception, interoception and exteroception. It is an invitation to touch and be touched by the poetry of bodies in motion. This work is strictly non-performative, and purely experiential, it takes us to an intimacy of being within and between ourselves.

Content and Themes

In this workshop, we will practice the main movement principles of Somatic Dialogue and Touch from a silent place inside of us. We will not speak during the practice but then have time to verbalize our experiences.

The floor and the spine
We will always start the work with floor work, precise guided improvisations will help the body to feel the floor and re-establish an active and sensual relationship with it. The improvisations will help to understand and feel our relationship to gravity. We will explore what is touching us and what we are touching while approaching another person. We will experience the "touch that listens" and the moving-force of touch.

Hands and Feet
We will explore the hands and feet as listening "antennas" or "membranes" which can perceive and open ways of communication.

Initiation to the intimacy of Touch in Somatic Dialogue
We will work delicately and in a very subtle way in couples with our bodies relating to the various qualities of Touch, from immaterial to material.

Saturday:
10.00-11.00 opening circle, meeting, seeing, listening
11.30-12.30 floorwork sensing and relation to the ground and gravity
14.00-16.00 experiencing the touch in the body
16.30-18.30 couple work: the immaterial touch

Sunday:
09.00-09.30 time to share our experiences of the previous day
10.00-12.30 Floorwork, dialoguing with the floor, space and the ground inside of us
14.00-15.30 couple work: the "listening touch" and the movement dialogue
16.00-17.30 deepening the poetry of touch in movement

(The distribution of the content may change according to how the group evolves.)

The workshop will be led by Berrak Yedek and will be assisted by Lina Sjödin who is training as a Somatic Dialogue Facilitator closely with Berrak.

Participants will also have the opportunity to speak to both of them in relation to the work and further practice opportunities, if they wish to practice regularly.

Course teacher

Lina SJÖDIN

(Assistant Instructor) is part of the Somatic Dialogue Facilitator Training. She has been dedicating herself to Somatic Dialogue for 3 years and is preparing to start working with small groups and/or individuals in Luzern. This is how she defines Somatic Dialogue: Somatic Dialogue uses movements, touch, breath and music to connect with our senses and the inner landscape of our body. It aims to give the time, space and environment to tune into the body and its need to feel well and be nourished. By being in the Soft, Slow and Small, we can gently create a relationship with the material body and step by step access the invisible parts of the body. The aim is Muhabbet: A conversation where love flows. This is an opportunity to feel ourselves from within, embrace all of ourselves, melt resistances, meet and merge with ourselves and feel united in body, mind and spirit.
