Overview
Pamela has innovated a practical and active approach to working with Trauma / PTSD / PTSI, with new diagnostic and treatment techniques. Her unique approach has evolved through teaching trauma workshops in Europe from Belfast to Berlin, and in North America from Austin to Montreal.Although the workshop is aimed mainly at advanced students of Shiatsu, it will also be useful for Acupuncturists and for all Bodyworkers, to explore new diagnostic and treatment insights.
Pamela will include subtle ways of recognizing PTSD/PTSI in patients who often seek initial treatments for spin-offs like chronic headaches, insomnia, backpain and anxiety.
Content
The workshop will include:- A graphic Five Element profile of trauma on a flip chart with props, using a road accident as an example, to determine the range of injuries and resulting PTSD/PTSI. Students will then pair up and exchange diagnostic insights related to any trauma they are willing to share, followed by focused treatments.
- Ways of recognizing and addressing different forms of PTSD/PTSI from patients’ reactions to specific meridians, acupoints, stretching, or joint movement. Based on real cases.
- Subtle Off-the-body techniques to address fragmented Qi caused by trauma (using whiplash as one example, and post- surgical trauma as another example).
- Clinical tips about techniques to avoid, including ways of recognizing sudden reactions to sensitive meridians, acupoints. movements, rotations and techniques.
- Discussions on the different forms of trauma including, suppressed trauma, internalized trauma, double trauma, inter-generational trauma, and trauma prompted by sexual abuse in childhood.
