Holistic Dance brings together dance, somatics, touch, improvisation, and personal development into a holistic practice of embodied exploration. The body is at the center—as a place of perception, expression, relationship, and creative intelligence.
Through improvisational dance, somatic movement practices, Authentic Movement, mindful touch, and movement improvisation, we explore our individual movement possibilities and develop a deeper awareness of the body, space, expression, and relationship. Rather than learning a specific dance technique or trying to do something “right,” we are invited to discover our own movement intelligence, expressive potential, and vitality.
Holistic Dance brings together artistic freedom, embodied awareness, and personal development. Movement is understood as a living process through which physical, emotional, mental, and relational experiences can meet and unfold.
We work with:
- Authentic Movement – exploring inner impulses, awareness, presence, and spontaneous movement
- Somatics & body awareness – incorporating elements of Feldenkrais, Body-Mind Centering, and applied anatomy
- Contact Improvisation & dance improvisation – exploring relationship, weight, space, dynamics, and nonverbal communication
- Mindful touch – exploring different qualities of touch for body awareness, relaxation, and regulation of muscular tone
- Dance pedagogy & composition – expanding individual movement vocabulary and artistic expression
- Movement meditation & Transitiontime – deepening, reflecting on, and artistically integrating our experiences
This introductory workshop offers an experiential entry point into the approach and philosophy of Holistic Dance, inviting you to discover the connection between dance, body awareness, touch, creativity, and personal transformation.
For those who would like to deepen this work and bring it into their own professional practice, the Kientalerhof offers a professional Holistic Dance Teachers Training. The training integrates personal experience, artistic practice, embodied knowledge, pedagogical skills, and the development of an individual, mindful, and creative teaching practice.

Course instructor
Sabine PARZER
is a dancer, choreographer, dance educator, body therapist and author. She is the director of the Holistic Dance Institute, which she founded in 2010. The institute is accredited by ISMETA, and Sabine is recognised as a Master Somatic Movement Educator. For more than 35 years, she has been teaching, performing and conducting research in the USA, Canada, Europe and Asia. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Dance from Columbia College Chicago and is trained in Systemic and Integrative Movement Education®. Contact Improvisation and Authentic Movement have shaped her work since 1997, complemented by extensive training in somatic and body-oriented methods. From 1999 to 2013, she worked as a holistic dance educator and dance therapist at an Austrian rehabilitation centre. In 2012, she co-founded Contact Festival Austria and served as its artistic director until 2017. She regularly teaches at international dance festivals and is regarded as a pioneer in somatic and healing dance. Her teaching is especially appreciated for its humorous, grounded and holistic approach.
