In this course the concept of health, illness and healing is approached from an energetic point of view. The approach is very different from the more common view and is based on more subtle aspects drawing on very authoritative sources in the holistic world.
The psychological aspects of the meridians as presented by Master Masunaga represent a first part of the seminar, in order to analyze, also through practice, the “talents” that each meridian contains.
The rediscovery of personal talents makes it possible to move towards an energetic balance that contains the seed of the healing process.
Yogananda Paramahansa's teachings represent a second section of the course, in which “scientific healing affirmations” and “metaphysical meditations” are a perfect skill with the work on the energetic level. The main aim is to strengthen the healing process through a practice that is more supportive, especially on a more subtle energetic level.
Complementing the teaching is a third part in which we look at the “seven stages of health” and the “seven stages of illness” presented by George Ohsawa, a Japanese writer and popularizer of the last century. This “revolutionary” approach gives us an extra tool in our work for the overall assessment of the person.
In the studies of many researchers, doctors and patients, the belief is gaining ground that the body and the brain talk to each other and influence each other, in health as well as in disease.
This conviction, already well established in the knowledge of Hippocratic medicine and known from time immemorial in traditional oriental medicine, is now finding scientific basis in neuroscience and other disciplines.
We can, through our practice, expand our perception of health and healing, we can practice in a more conscious way and more than this learn to put aside the ego and the will to “change” the other convinced that we know what is best for the other person. Stripping ourselves of the “saviour’s syndrome” and developing ever greater sensitivity allows the person's system to find “its” way to profound wellbeing.

Monica BORIO
is a well-known Shiatsu teacher and practitioner, with many years of professional experience. Since 1985 she is involved in Philosophy and Oriental Medicines’ studies, in Shiatsu, Yoga and Macrobiotic in particular. She is co-founder, teacher and director of the Itado in Torino (Italy). She graduated at the University of Turin in the Oriental Studies Department and is the author of several books as “Un corpo leggero”, “Shiatsu”, “Tobia e il mondo invisibile”, “Art&Shiatsu” as well as of many articles on Shiatsu, Yoga, Macrobiotics, Philosophy and Oriental Art. She studied in Europe and Usa with famous teachers such as W. Ohashi, R. Ridolfi, W. Rappenecker, M. Halsey and many others. Author of “La leggera qualità del Cielo Ascolto e Gratitudine“(Shiatsu Milano editore).
