Botanical-printing


Botanical-printing is a natural and sustainable way of coloring fabric using various parts of plants.
In this workshop, you’ll:
  • Learn the basics of preparing fabric for dyeing,
  • Explore the benefits and history of natural dyeing
  • Identify plants that give color, some found in the wild, in your garden or even in your kitchen scraps.

Through hands-on activities, you’ll experiment with techniques and create their unique naturally coloured pieces to take home.
Each participant will also receive a handout with mordant recipes and a guide to local plants and flowers suitable for dyeing.
All of the workshop materials are provided.

Workshop Schedule

11:00-12:30 – Introduction to scouring, mordanting, acquiring pigments, demonstration.
12:30-13:30 – Lunch break*
13:30-15:00 – Practical session – gathering plant materials and creating your dyed pieces.

Course price

We are now offering different prices for our workshops. You can decide according to your financial possibilities how much you can and want to pay. It is important to us to communicate our thoughts on this transparently. And: participation shouldn't fail because of the money. The price can be adjusted or offset against a suitable consideration.
CHF 85.-
This contribution covers the minimal costs and effort that we have to prepare and carry out the workshop. We offer this option for low-income earners.
CHF 125.-
The costs for the preparation and implementation of the workshop are covered and a small contribution can be made to the permaculture project, which enables its preservation.
CHF 165.-
The costs for the preparation and implementation of the workshop are covered and a large contribution can flow to the permaculture project, which enables its further development.
*You can book your lunch or bring your own meal.
The price includes the workshop day and food (CHF 25.-). Naturhof team offers locally grown and home cooked vegan meals, straight from the garden. We appreciate your lunch booking in advance.

None - this workshop is open to everyone.

Elza KARKLINA

is multifaceted Latvian artist currently residing in Kiental, Switzerland. She is a part of Naturhof permaculture project team focusing on flowers. In her free time, she works as a freelance illustrator.
